Paul Atreides aligns with Chani and the Fremen, fueled by a desire for retribution against those who dismantled his family. Confronted with a pivotal decision between his profound affection for an individual and the destiny of the universe, he commits to averting a dire future he alone envisions.

Unfortunately, this time Villeneuve didn't have the time to achieve the perfection of his imperfection. In my mind, I've witnessed what could have been a masterpiece with another six months of editing—one without soulless scenes, without empty words that convey nothing. It went from the dance of music moving to the beat of the frames in the first part, to simply a great film with many highs and lows in the second. Perhaps next time he will once again be worthy of joining the ranks of the greats. I don't want anyone reading this to think I didn't like the film. It's a great work, but the first one is so good that it's frustrating to think what this could have been if Villeneuve had been given another 6 months to play with the footage and the soundtrack. Hopefully, a 4-hour director's cut will eventually appear, just like what happened with The Lord of the Rings. P.S.: The editing issues and the drop in cohesion between the music and the scenes are much more evident in an IMAX theater. I've seen the film in both Spanish and English; the dubbing is awful, and I strongly recommend watching it in its native language.
