The original concept was going to be an adult dark comedy (like New Line's The Mask) aimed at young adults who grew up watching the 80s animated series - Disney wanted to sell more McDonalds happy meals to children and demanded the theatrical release be much shorter in length. The house of mouse ruins everything!
