absolutely gut wrenching. it’s infuriating and it’s inhumane, what the world has allowed israel to do for decades upon decades. there are moments of fellowship and happiness for basal and his community, but they are always ruined by the pervading violence of the israeli forces and settlers. every moment with a soldier on screen is harrowing, because we already know what they’re capable of and more than willing to commit. they tell the villagers that the demolitions, the disenfranchisement of their people, are dictated by the law and to take it up with the law, but how is that possible when the governing power isn’t even theirs? it’s not even unbiased. these palestinians have lived in an apartheid state for so long, ruled by unjust laws created to oppress them. there is no justice here, just brave defiance in the face of bullies. and if any jewish person dissents from the zionist propaganda or agenda, they’re dubbed traitors; god forbid they find compassion and empathy for the people their government treats as subhuman. i’m sick and tired of nothing changing. this is such a crime against humanity. free palestine.
