Since recent announcements have ATLA on a lot of people’s minds:
Look, this show is not trying to recreate the original animated series. It’s a retelling, so it’s going to be different in some significant ways. I think it’s important for fans of the OG show to keep that in mind because some of the differences can be jarring. I didn’t particularly care for some of the character changes (the most egregious one was definitely King Bumi - my god), and they did some big remixing to fit what was originally a 20-episode season into just 8 episodes. That being said, I still enjoyed seeing a cartoon that I love be brought to life.
Moving forward with seasons 2 & 3, I hope that they’re able to slow down the pacing a bit, because the story matters so much. I also hope that the wig budget got a serious increase 🫣
