The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant
This is the story of a nine-year-old boy named Hogarth Hughes who makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that came from outer space. Meanwhile, a paranoid U.S. Government agent named Kent Mansley arrives in town, determined to destroy the giant at all costs. It's up to Hogarth to protect him by keeping him at Dean McCoppin's place in the junkyard.

1999’s 'The Iron Giant' is a childhood classic that’s locked in my Plex library for good. This movie strips it all back to the roots—it’s never about what you’re 'made' for, but what you choose to become. Vin Diesel’s voice as the Iron Giant is pure magic, stumbling into the life of little Hogarth Hughes, a kid whose imagination is already off the charts. Hogarth doesn’t just befriend this massive robot; he flips the script on what the Giant’s supposed to be. You see it hinted at when the Giant’s dream—a vision of war and an invading robot army—flickers over Dean McCoppin’s TV in the scrap yard. That’s what he was forged for, but Hogarth shows him he can be more. It’s innocent, heartfelt, and hits you with that ‘Superman’ moment that still gives me goosebumps. If you’re craving a nostalgic gem on Plex about choice, friendship, and defying your programming, this is it!
