Robert Eggers brings his signature atmospheric tension and historical authenticity to this retelling. While it's marvelous to look at, there's nothing real surprising here to the Nosferatu story. Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok is incredible as is the design of the creature. His portrayal deviates from the romanticized vampire archetype, presenting Orlok as a grotesque rotting corpse. The visual composition, with its interplay of light and shadow, pays homage to the original film adaptation's German Expressionism while also incorporating modern techniques. Maybe it's the already familiarity of the story but found it to lack a special oomph. Nonetheless it's a great piece of filmmaking and as a big folk horror fan- this hits the mark.
