While the plot involves a world full of assassins for-hire and a world-threatening code-breaking machine—two of my least favorite and overused tropes—the film compensates with its unrestrained and gory fight choreography. The action sequences are inventive and satisfyingly brutal, featuring everything from improvised weapons to chainsaw massacres.
Josh Hartnett looks like he’s having a blast, and I loved seeing Katee Sackhoff. I don’t know that I’ve seen Charithra Chandran in anything before, but she holds her own, even if her character doesn’t make a ton of sense.
The narrative twists are largely predictable, and the film doesn't strive to be a cerebral thriller. However, for viewers who appreciate stylized violence and a self-aware approach to action, Fight or Flight offers a fun, albeit turbulent ride.
