Simple but entertaining and filled with heart. I’m a fan of Xolo Maridueña in Cobra Kai and I’m glad to see him getting bigger roles. It was great to see George Lopez too, he nailed it with the comedy. I would’ve liked to see some of the fights with Blue Beetle happen during the day, literally all of them happened at night or in a dark setting. The CGI was pretty decent though, there was never a moment that took me out of the film. Although the story leaning more towards the family aspect is great, I also wanted to see some lore on the origins of the scarab and more conversations between it and Jaime. I like how the character was portrayed in the Young Justice show, whereas the movie didn’t fully show me who Blue Beetle is even though they fleshed out Jamie’s character. Overall an enjoyable film and I really hope this version of Blue Beetle makes it over to the new DCU reboot.
