The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!
A rerun of many of the gags from the television series Police Squad! (1982). An Airplane! (1980)-type spoof, this time with the an incompetent Lieutenant Frank Drebin, who always "gets his man". Visual gags come thick and fast, and it's impossible to catch them all with one viewing. The plot: Queen Elizabeth II of England is coming to town, and Vincent Ludwig has plans to assassinate her using a brainwashed baseball player.

This held up surprisingly well. Comedies from the 80’s and 90’s can often be pretty hard to sit through, particularly when we’re watching with our kids. 😆 There actually wasn’t even a ton of super inappropriate content, outside of some sexual innuendo. Most of the gags are actually just pulled straight from Saturday Morning cartoons of the day. Lelsie Nielson is legend. His pitch perfect delivery is just so good. We’re looking forward to Liam Neeson’s take, though, too. He seems like the perfect fit to take on this legacy. Low key forgot about the entire baseball game segment and that my Seattle Mariners were featured in this movie. Nielson playing the umpire making ludicrous and flamboyant strike calls is possibly my favorite part.
