⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (out of 5) Resident Alien – An Extraterrestrial with Excellent Bedside Manner
Resident Alien is 3rd Rock from the Sun for a new generation — one alien, one secret mission, and one delightfully odd small town standing in his way. Alan Tudyk’s “Harry” crash-lands on Earth intending to destroy humanity, only to find himself posing as a doctor and slowly learning that people, while deeply strange, might actually be worth saving.
The show is a perfectly mixed cocktail of sci-fi, small-town mystery, and awkward comedy. One episode might play out like a murder case, the next like a heartfelt buddy story about acceptance and belonging. Beneath the laughs and quirky side characters beats a surprising emotional core — especially through Asta, the local who discovers Harry’s secret yet still helps him navigate his new (and very human) life.
It’s a space opera grounded in snowy Colorado, full of warmth, chaos, and the peculiar beauty of community. And in true Firefly family fashion, Nathan Fillion makes a sly cameo — but you’ll have to listen carefully to catch him.
Pairing: A steaming mug of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows — sweet, comforting, and just weird enough to remind you that aliens might be learning humanity better than humans themselves.
