Post-50's Clint Eastwood sole horror film, stepping into darker territory with Tightrope, a neo-noir thriller that combines psychological complexity with the grit of a police procedural. It's a toned down Dirty Harry. One of Eastwood’s most vulnerable and human characters, a departure from his traditional stoic personas. He's not a badass here.
While Tightrope succeeds as a thriller, its pacing can feel uneven, with moments of introspection occasionally slowing the momentum. Despite that, Tightrope is a unique entry in Eastwood’s filmography, showcasing his willingness to tackle challenging roles and themes.
