Kalki 2898-AD
In the year 2898 AD, around 6000 years after Kurukshetra war, Ashwatthama gears up for his final battle of redemption at the sign of hope in a dystopian world and Bhairava, a wisecracking and self-interested bounty hunter, tired of the perilous life becomes the hurdle in the process.

Pretty damn fun with lots of memorable scenes.
Kalki expertly balances comedy and drama in ways I find Indian movies do so naturally. I could follow the story without much issue, which is nice since I'm just a film-lovin white boi 🤣... Probably helps that every character has their name spoken aloud like 20 times each (80 for Bhairava), as well everyone gets at least a couple slo-mo, posing-for-the-camera shots, with obligatory wind-blown hair...(again, Bhairava gets 80) 😂
The sound is fucking incredible too; effects, score, and soundtrack are all great.
Bonus: I really enjoyed when people in the theatre would cheer at the first appearance of famous Indian actors. It was also obvious that I missed a few jokes due to my cultural ignorance 🤷♂️😂
Probably not quite as accessible as RRR but definitely still worth a watch, especially if you are familiar with Indian lore.
Proclaiming an entire Kalki Cinematic Universe at the end was a pretty bold move, guess we'll see how far that reaches in the years to come...but I will watch them all! 🙏🤣
