“The Angels’ Share”, directed by Ken Loach and written by Paul Laverty, blends gritty social realism with a surprisingly light caper comedy. It follows a young man caught between a troubled past and the possibility of something better, grounded by the steady support of a warm-hearted community service supervisor who gives the story its soul. The themes of poverty, justice, and redemption are timeless, and the humor mostly lands. I did find myself struggling at times to catch what they were saying, but I’m American, so I’ll own that.
