The Hunt for Red October
This movie tells the story of Captain Marko Ramius (Sir Sean Connery), the skipper of the Soviet Union's newest nuclear submarine, the "Red October." Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) of the C.I.A. gets involved in a tense, tangled hunt for this sub, when Ramius defects, taking the "Red October" with him. The story is an action packed techno-thriller.

About as good of a Cold War movie as you could get. The story is great, the acting is fantastic, and the movie looks great.
The best part about this movie is how limited the communication is. Every little bit of communication is slow, limited, risks being interpreted incorrectly, and often simply isn’t possible for long stretches.
Sam Neill’s character…. Poor guy just wanted a round American woman who would cook him rabbit stew.
