I've never seen a movie where it was pretty much clear from the outset what was going on, but I was also wondering, "What the hell, exactly, is going on!?" It withheld and provided information at just the right pace to keep you in the know but also wondering. Not a ton of FX throughout, but what is here is used effectively. It's a rather small story given the concept, but I appreciate that's it kind of a lean, mean, quick hit take on the subject matter. It definitely leaned on "Megan Fox is hot, so every male character is going to make indefensibly stupid decisions to put themselves into vulnerable positions" way too much, but maybe I'm just underestimating the power of the penis in teenage boys. I'm generally meh on supernatural horror, but all in on dark comedy, and I think this two-handed it really well. And you can feel Diablo Cody's thumbprint, but it's much less apparent than, say, Juno, but more present than in Young Adult as I remember it. We watched the Extended Edition. Having not seen the original, I don't know what was added or extended, but at under an hour and forty five minutes, this version felt like a decent length. Like everyone, I'm always a fan of Adam Brody and I'll take more of him anywhere I can get him. Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried both pull of their roles well as well. I feel like this is the most I've seen Johnny Simmons in anything and he held up his end.
