Early John Woo piece immediately establishing he was a prominent action figure to look forward to.
Honestly those who need an introduction or looking to dip their toes into martial arts cinema could start with Last Hurrah. There's a real engaging plot and character development on the front with often fight scenes. The last hour of this picture you better buckle up. Woo takes us on a fucking ride. Our two leads fight room to room chamber to chamber of different opponents each more difficult than the last before reaching the big boss arch enemy. The fights are incredibly creative including a cage match, a sleeping buddha, fire breathing, warriors jumping out of the ground, with a ton of weapon variety although most swordplay.
Last Hurrah is some S-tier kung fu you don't want to miss.
