A competently made film which is saying a lot for a live action remake. I won’t lie I enjoyed my time watching this film. The score is still incredible & the story is told faithfully. The scenes that aren’t shot in front of what ends up being distractingly bad green screen, are actually quite beautiful. You can tell which parts of this film are shot on location & it’s utilized quite well if incredibly inconsistently. The issue is just that the film really offers nothing new. It feels like a cash grab, though an enjoyable one. Most of the character work is lacking compared to the original, the little changes that were made were good ones though. I want to know more about how this global tribe of dragon slayers came to be. All in all, I don’t find it nearly as offensive as most of these films. It’s watchable so I guess that’s a win.
