To a certain extent I understand the criticisms of this episode. It is certainly slower paced than most of the season so far & jumps back in with a character we haven’t seen in awhile. It’s hard to take a wild ride with Ms Cobel after falling head over heels in love with Gemma Scout immediately prior. The thing is though, this episode is so crucial to both the plot and major themes of the show. It’s not just that Patricia Arquette is a generational talent who completely understands the assignment of Harmony Cobel, it’s that this character who already loomed large over our central characters, is revealed to be a massive catalyst in her own right. The cruel revelation that severance was designed by an abused and abandoned child to escape the harsh reality she occupied, is only overshadowed by the unbelievable scale of the damage Lumon eventually used it for. Listen, I could watch 30 more minutes of just that gorgeous scenery with that little vw cruising through because every detail of this show is executed with such care and passion. I’m down for wherever this story wants to take me.
