Waiting...

Waiting...
Employees at a Bennigan's-like restaurant (called, creatively enough, Shenanigan's), kill time before their real lives get started. But while they wait, they'll have to deal with picky customers who want their steak cooked to order and enthusiastic managers who want to build the perfect wait staff. Luckily, these employees have effective revenge tactics.

Although I was the target audience when this first came out and indeed regarded this as one of my favorite adolescent comedies, watching it today is really quite difficult... even just the first 5 minutes are painful to get through. I can totally respect that this was the prescient humor of the 2000s. I lived through that decade as a millennial and this was comedy gold back then. Ryan Reynolds' popular crude sarcastic comedic style is on full display here. The problem with how this holds up is the fact that it narratively hinges on misogynistic and homophobic jokes that receive lots of laughs and high-fives. One could argue that the crude jokes are the whole point of the film. The fact is they aged like cottage cheese.
