Terrible movie. It is the B side of Basic Instinct but not as well acted. Madonna puts forth the efforts and has moments where she shines. However, she has an equal amount of moments where the director was either absent or was her acting coach. Madonna has presence- she is the most successful female singer in the world- she has something… but she needs a director at every turn to help her make choices in her acting that show her possibilities- like in Evita or Desperately Seeking Susan. William DaFoe is a great actor- but not the sexy male lead to be opposite Madonna. This miscasting is actually part of the issue- the movie is not “hot” or erotic when you have peak Madge and Peak William who would and has never been a sex symbol. It is actually Cringe. Like watching Tom Cruise jump on that couch and knowing Katie Holmes was a Gonener. Oh yeah the plot- not there. However, CAMP yes. Watch it for how bad it is and you will not be disappointed. 1/3 star for being a good movie and 4 stars for camp. Together, it equal a showgirls before there was showgirls.
