John Saxon elevates this trash horror to another level with an excellent performance. The stuff in the sewers with cops armed with shotguns and flamethrowers and rats is something else. The film almost nearly makes an anti war statement by having civilians equating misunderstood veterans with rabid animals but any serious thoughts get drowned out by the blood.
