Utterly endearing rom com with a middle-aged meet-cute (and meet-again-cute) amidst a storm of loneliness, low paying jobs, alcoholism, shut down factories and a backdrop of an advancing war in the nearby Ukraine. The longing silences and deadpan dialogue envelops their relationship with an awkwardly charming chemistry. The film overall suggests a hopefulness in distilling some happiness in an otherwise dour universe.
