Excuse the title as this is not much of a vampire tale. The Vampire Doll is the first installment of The Bloodthirsty Trilogy and is actually a ghost story/haunted house picture that could had easily been confused as a Hammer Horror if it wasn't spoken in Japanese. Reeking of gothic atmosphere with a vibrant color palette, unusual for the culture I've seen from Japan in this era.
A disturbed spirit lingers about taking revenge. Our ghastly protagonist is effectively terrifying even fifty years later. Most of the scenes are set inside a manor creeping the audience with plenty of strange sounds to back up the eerie visuals. This is one of the better hidden gems I discovered clicking immediately, a sensual experience building up to a blood spraying conclusion.
