Watched the American remake last night and was surprised at how much some of the exact same story beats did not work for me and it made me want to revisit this one again just to make sure I wasn’t misremembering somehow. Full-ish thoughts on that review, but I really felt like McAvoy’s version of the Patrick/Paddy character felt much too abrasive from the beginning. Fedja van Huet’s was at least gracious and cordial at the beginning of this newfound friendship to believably garner some goodwill from the unsuspecting couple.
