Original and genre bending.
Set in the 1930’s Deep South; It’s sexy, exciting, patient, scary, grime, gruesome, and emotionally charged. It easily flips between laughter, tension, curiosity, and song and works on every level that it plays on which is not an easy feat. The music is fantastic and a character all to itself. It could have been a musical drama if it wanted to. There were scenes in this movie me that had me literally shaking back and forth in my seat with a big ass grin on my face.
