Young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz and embark on a quest with three new friends to see the Wizard, who can return her to her home and fulfill the others' wishes.
The Wizard of oz, I’m not going to base this review on the film’s plot as we all know its plot and structure; it’s more of the technical aspects of this release. The version I have in my Plex is the 4K Dolby Vision release. It’s presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio (black bars left and right of the image). The sheer clarity is absolutely amazing for the 1930s; it looks like it was filmed in the late 70s. It has very little natural grain, so there is no fake smoothing. The audio track is the same original track remastered, so it has the same mono sound for it as it did in the original release. It has been cleaned up so it’s clear and natural, and especially the songs will come across great in a good sound system set up. The start of the film is released in the original Sepia Tint, not black and white, and the colour does sparkle with Dolby Vision, particularly in Dorothy’s bright red shoes. definitely 5 stars for the restoration of this 4K Dolby Vision Release.
