Dramatizes a contemporary American family's attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world.
This is a film that lands squarely in the Not For Everyone genre. It’s an absurdist satire of our collective existential dread. A 2 hr plus genre hopping escapade that at it’s most basic follows a family amidst an evacuation of their town as it is being threatened by a toxic airborne event. Beyond that, this is a very difficult film to summarize, but a much more interesting film to talk about. I can see each viewer potentially coming out of the theater with a different idea of what the central thesis of this film was.
My experience of the film was that fear of death, immediate or eventual, drives everyone in some capacity here. And with everyone anxious about their own mortality, they tend to lose sight of the things that are right in front of them—their family, their relationships, etc.  I say this knowing that’s not what everyone’s take away will be, which ultimately makes me want to encourage everyone to watch this, knowing that half of you will not like this film. I found it to be really funny, though only sporadically.  It’s also, impressive on a technical level perfectly capturing the vibe of many different genres of films, but other times it looked very much like a Netflix production. It was captivatingly entertaining, yet it also felt way too long. I definitely recommend. I just want to apologize to half of you in advance.
