Mars Attacks!

Mars Attacks!
It is a normal day for everyone, until President of the United States James Dale (Jack Nicholson) announces Martians have been spotted circling Earth. The Martians land and a meeting is arranged, but not everything goes to plan, and the Martians seem to have other plans for Earth. Are they just misunderstood beings or do they really want to destroy all of humanity?

Following the critical success of his biopic "Ed Wood," Tim Burton returned with his take on classic alien invasion films of the 1950s in "Mars Attacks!" which was highly misunderstood and is now deemed a cult classic and one of Burton's better films of his career. With a cast so stacked it makes you wonder how the filmmaker was able to bribe every single one of them to be in this film, we see an invasion from the extraterrestrial beings as they invade Earth and while they claim to want peace with humanity it's made immediately clear that it's all a rouse as they cause mayhem on Earth killing and taking out as many people as possible. Jack Nicholson leads a cast consisting of Glenn Close, Michael J. Fox, Natalie Portman, Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jack Black, Annette Bening, and even Jim Brown as well as many other big name actors and it makes for a fun ensemble who help add to this parody of how people would react to an alien invasion, and for the time being the CGI used to create the creatures hasn't aged as bad as one would imagine and looks great for the 90s. There's no deep or complex story here and is simply a film with characters dealing with this insane situation, and Nicholson's President James Dale failing to act in order to help fight back as he wants peace with the creatures themselves and the humor comes from the aliens not caring less and killing people regardless, proving that they're much more clever than the human race. A really fun outing from Burton.
