Yorgos is such a freak and I’m here for it. He loves to utilize absurdist narratives as a way of holding a mirror up to the audience and reveal how ridiculous we are. In The Lobster he reflects our absurd societal norms regarding courtships, relationships, and marriage back at us and it is absolutely hilarious. The cast is stellar, wonderfully delivering, Yorgos’ signature deadpan dialogue. Colin Farrell, Olivia Colman, and Rachel Weisz are just perfect in every scene. Love Lanthimos’ work so much.
