Rose Da Silva takes her adopted daughter, Sharon, to the town of Silent Hill in an attempt to cure her of her ailment. After a violent car crash, Sharon disappears and Rose begins a horrific journey to get her back.

I don't know why I had the idea that this movie was BAD, maybe I'm confusing it with another (Alone in the Dark, maybe?), but I was sure I heard the movie sucked... and, as a videogame based movie, it made sense, since that's what usually happens, so I never bother to watch it... plus, I never played the game, so my interest in it was not great (this also means I'm not going to comment about the fidelity to the source material).
Now, I'm not going to say it's a masterpiece, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. There are not many good horror movies, and I think this one deserves its place among them. The acting of the little girl could be better, but the rest is great, the visual effects still hold till today, and the scary scenes are awesome. All in all, a good horror movie, and that's saying much.
