An excommunicated priest sets up a satanic cult that only looks Catholic on the outside. He convinces a man to sign over his daughter's soul so that she will become the devil's representative on earth on her eighteenth birthday, but as that day nears, the man seeks the help of an American occult novelist to save his daughter, both physically and spiritually.

As one of Hammer’s last attempts to recapture the magic of their horror dominance, To the Devil A Daughter is just another Satanic Panic religious scare. The film tries to channel the success of recent contemporaries The Exorcist, Rosemary’s Baby, The Omen but never comes close to reaching their level of tension or storytelling. The atmosphere is there- Hammer’s signature Gothic touch mixed with a modern setting creates some memorable moments. However, the film suffers from sluggish pacing, predictability, and a climax that feels abrupt and unsatisfying. While To the Devil A Daughter has moments of charm and some unsettling imagery, it lacks the punch of Hammer’s best work. It's a bit of a slog.
