Harold and Maude

Harold and Maude
The young Harold lives in his own world of suicide-attempts and funeral visits to avoid the misery of his current family and home environment. Harold meets an 80-year-old woman named Maude who also lives in her own world yet one in which she is having the time of her life. Kind of like a dark folky slice of life with the type of irreverence and positive nihilistic philosophy that you'd expect from an ambivalent mushroom trip. The writing is so poignant and the characters are so charismatic and unique that you're easily able to truly picture the love between the two lovers even though they are a lifetime apart in age. The ending continues the dark yet playful jest like a poetic refrain.
