Superman

Superman
Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.

Next up is one I been waiting to pull the trigger on & that’s the new ‘Superman’ (2025), so where do I begin with this, I rate it 7/10 with my criteria for 7 stars being “Good / Enjoyable / Worth watching once or twice.”
I was nervously putting off watching this for a while as I was afraid it would be awful, at first glance I didn’t (& still don’t) like the new suit design for Superman, which goes against the grain from previous adaptations of being deceiving designed to make Superman actors look more muscular which I prefer from a character design standpoint. I also heard the movie had heavy political undertones which usually leans overwhelmingly liberal in many modern films surprisingly it actually was political in my favour (more on that soon) but still probably alienating potential audiences but I digress. Theres more but I’ll cover it shortly.
Firstly what I DID like what (obviously) the visuals such as CGI, cinematography & editing was incredible, as you expect from any adaptation newer than the previous. Theres CGI & practical effects were unbelievable, it was so impressive to look at. The action sequences were incredible too like teeth being punched out of faces in 3d graphics & the technology of the villains, everything looked spectacular; from a visual standpoint you cannot fault it. I did actually grow to enjoy SOME of the casting choices too, I originally internally hated on the casting choice for the new Clark/superman but since watching have come around on that. I liked the females such as Cat Grant played by Mikaela Hoover which was just absolutely hot with an insane rack which we got fan service of with the wardrobe choices. Also Lois, Eve, Fleurette & also the Balkan girls from the fictional country ‘Boravia’ were all beautiful. I also like how James Gunn was able to write in Superman to take damage without resorting to OVERuse of kryptonite. I also loved that krypto the dog was written into this film unlike the others.
However on to some of the things I disliked: Firstly I disliked many of the casting choices for example Martha & Jonathan Kent, I didn’t feel like they fit their roles. I also really disliked the fact that many of Supermans’ abilities were untapped & not demonstrated as he has more powers in his arsenal that weren’t displayed. I also disliked the lack of death, Superman obviously doesn’t kill people but usually characters die at either the hands of other supes or by accident in battle, this one nobody died. Theres more but I’m too busy to finish so to wrap it up
Overall I liked the film it was filled with equal amounts delightful surprises as it was bitter disappointments but overall was worth the watch clocking in at 7/10 stars
