Trotz ihrer Vorsicht bemerkt der höhergestellte Hofdiener Jinshi ihre Affinität für Heilkräuter und verlangt fortan bei medizinischen Problemen des Hofes nach ihrer Expertise – dadurch verstrickt sie sich unweigerlich in die Intrigen am Kaiserhof.

I first heard of Apothecary Diaries when I was in Barnes & Noble and I saw that it had a manga AND a novel. I decided to start with the anime since I’m already paying for a Netflix 😅, and I have no regrets!
The artwork is SO gorgeous and the story can move a little slow and it’s kinda heavy, but it’s really well-written and very enjoyable. And you can really take the story at surface value, but there are some great deeper themes to explore around power and womanhood if that’s your thing.
I love love love the main female protagonist and I’m so into this story that I’m def gonna head back to B&N to get the manga AND the novel 😭💕
