Resident Evil: Retribution feels like watching a video game glitch in real time—looped action scenes, resurrected characters with no emotional weight, and a plot stitched together like a Frankenstein of franchise leftovers. Event Horizon (1997) delivered horror that crawled under your skin, with Dr. Weir’s descent and Captain Miller’s anguish pulling you into genuine terror; Retribution, by contrast, reboots itself every five minutes, hoping gunfire and leather can distract from the fact that nothing—absolutely nothing—means anything anymore.
