None of that caped Marvel bullshit found here. From the first frame to the last, Black Mask operates at a breakneck pace with zero intention of letting you take a breather.
Every moment is cranked to eleven. Whether it’s a high-stakes shootout, a wire-assisted martial arts brawl, or a slow-motion leap through glass, the movie never stops piling it on. There’s no real downtime, no reflective moments, just non-stop action and stylized chaos. It’s thrilling at first, but the relentless pace eventually borders on exhausting. I lost focus on whatever the plot was- really couldn't tell you.
That said, Black Mask is too damn impressive with all its fight sequences to fault too much. It’s not refined, and the storytelling is all over the place, but it has that wild Hong Kong energy and stuntwork that refuses to apologize for anything. Real stunts too none of that weak ass Tom Cruise running he calls a stunt.
It’s hard not to admire the full-throttle insanity.
