Born on the Fourth of July

Born on the Fourth of July
Based on the true story of Ron Kovic (Cruise, in an Oscar-nominated performance), an idealistic young American proudly enlists during the Vietnam War and returns home a paraplegic. Struggling to overcome drug-addiction and depression, he turns his life around and becomes an outspoken critic of the war.

Oliver Stone again shows why he really is a master filmmaker.
Fantastic film, brilliantly cast, acted (Cruise is on fine form indeed), produced & directed.
All the right ingredients are here & it's all been prepared with a careful, professional touch, right from the spellbinding story up.
At times very sad, but always gritty, Born on the 4th July highlights yet again the atrocities of war & yet again begs the question why any man would be so willing to spill his guts, thousands of miles away in a foreign land, only to be treated so crudely, disgustingly, upon his return...
If only more people understood the true meaning behind Springsteen's Born in the USA, but at least this movie smacks the watcher straight in the face with it.
Excellent movie, thank you Mr Stone, highly recommended.
