Such a shame...
There's a great slasher in here somewhere, but whatever could've been is lost in a clusterfuck of things that make little or no sense. The man responsible for that is also the director, so, as you can imagine, it leaves alot to be desired as well.
Here is what I will give it credit for. The cast is actually pretty damn good. Although I couldn't place any of them without checking their filmography, they're familiar and more than talented enough (besides the obvious cameo of course). It does have gore & blood, and I liked the tunes. The last 15-ish minutes are actually good (obvious, but good nonetheless). And finally, the burgeoning romance between the bad ass drummer chick and her would-be slasher. There's chemistry there.
That keeps it watchable, but the rest is a fucking mess. The direction sucks...bad kill angles wasting perfectly acceptable practical effects, too many instances of offscreen mayhem, and just generally shitty framing. It is made by a fan of the genre, but the callbacks and attempts at humor continually fall flat. This is supposed to be a meta horror comedy, and it doesn't work as any of those things.
Oh well...
