It’s Jason Statham, playing Jason Statham, as usual. He’s somewhat of a guilty pleasure, but the fact of the matter is, 9/10 his movies are effortlessly watchable. Simple story, bit of action, good guy, bad guy, magnetic lead. Job done. However, this is tickling the realms of that 1/10 turn. It passes time, it’s ok, but there’s more than a little 80’s style OTT, and that’s saying something for Statham (see motorcycle chase). The twists are not just telegraphed, they’re circled and highlighted in fluorescent marker… no real surprises, and a play by numbers. Needs a little more Work.
