The first 24 minutes of this movie have been well discussed and rightfully so. Stephen Spielberg's recreation of the Omaha Beach invasion is nothing short of stunning. Once your mind, heart, gut and soul process this numbing and sobering experience, you will find the less-talked-about portion of the film accolade-worthy in it's own right.
Tom Sizemore is outstanding in a supporting role and Tom Hanks is Tom Hanks in this fictional story based on true events. Harsh reality and cinematic art converge in a film of heroes willing to pay the ultimate price. May the price paid at Normandy never need be paid again.
