It turns out that the parcel is the ransom she'll need to free her abducted sister, so Joan flies to South America to hand it over. But she gets on the wrong bus and winds up hopelessly stranded in the jungle.

Romancing the Stone is undeniably Indiana Jones-influenced, but rather than a copy, it carves out its own niche with a romantic edge. The film thrives on its energy. Loads of action fun without ever overloading the story. The pace is tight and frequent moments of slapstick humor without ever losing the lighthearted spirit. Really just a timeless piece.
