Carrie stands out as one of the strongest Stephen King adaptations, perfectly capturing the cruelty and fear that defines high school hierarchy. Brian De Palma delivers a stylish, intense film, but the over-sexualization of the teenage female characters is way too excessive and extremely uncomfortable, making Carrie almost unwatchable at times. Despite this, Carrie remains a classic, but it’s a story that could benefit from a more modern, sensitive retelling.
