Blood on the Crown

Blood on the Crown
Just Noise (Storbju) chronicles how the citizens of Malta fought for independence from Britain in 1919. When the Army was sent to quell the riots and the British government covered up the bloody encounter, more than 100 Maltese were accused of instigating the violence and jailed.

My quick rating - 6.3/10. You can give me these two actors, and tell me it is them sitting face to face, tossing pieces of uncooked pasta at each other, and I would still watch it. Getting Keitel in a movie these days is a chore as it is, and McDowell is more approachable and still holds the screen. Here we are viewing the story of the Maltese rejecting the British occupation in 1919. This flick, though, really focuses more on a couple of the locals coming to terms with this dependence on the British, and of what makes them innocent or an enemy. It never really gets very dramatic, and the leads are rarely used. Still, when they are onscreen, they hold your attention but really are not there for much more than selling points. I would've liked to have seen more of each, but that was just not for this flick to explore. (aka Blood on the Crown )
