Despite a noticeable low budget director Christian Kennedy had to work with, Alien fan film short, “No Man’s Land,” delivers an ambitious and thrilling experience. Set during World War I, the film follows a group of Australian and an Ottoman soldiers who encounter a terrifying extraterrestrial threat in the trenches of 1917.
What “Prey” did for Predator by setting it in the past, “No Man’s Land” takes it one step further with the Xenomorphs. There are some notable references and callbacks to the Alien franchise sprinkled throughout. “No Mans Land” is a shining expamle of how talented directing and impressive acting and practical effects can create a better experience than a 300 million dollar studio feature that rather spread “the message” than tell a good story.
