Paramount+’s School Spirits is a compelling mix of teen drama, supernatural mystery, and coming-of-age storytelling that makes for an engaging first season. With a unique premise and a strong cast, the series manages to balance humor, suspense, and heartfelt moments.The show centers on Maddie Nears (Peyton List from Cobra Kai), a high school student who wakes up to discover she’s dead—and trapped in the purgatory within her school. Unlike traditional ghost stories, School Spirits turns Maddie into an amateur detective, determined to solve the mystery of her own murder while navigating the rules of the afterlife. Alongside a group of fellow ghostly students, she pieces together clues about what really happened to her. The acting in the show is top notch. It also has an impressive list of hipster music tracks that will have you hitting Shazam on your phone several times.
