Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling put on a method-acting clinic. That's the good news. The bad news is the pace of the film is too slow and the plot is too simple. Basically, two people fall in love and over time fall out of love. The movie is in the journey, contrasting the then and now.
For those who are able to invest in the characters, the picture is raw, emotional and heartbreaking. For those who cannot, it's pretty much a chick flick in need of a B-12 shot...though, there is that acting.
