“Dakota” is a John Wayne Western that attempts to balance romance, frontier justice, and railroad expansion, while also incorporating a greedy land grab plot. There's an attempt at comic relief with Nicodemus that’s more offensive than funny. It’s a low-budget effort, and while Wayne completists will check it off their list, it’s unlikely to leave a lasting impression.
