The first Pacific Rim succeeded on the shoulders of its cast and the direction of the action. You felt the weight of the Jaegers and the attacking kaiju. The sequel however feels more like an expensive episode of Power Rangers. The villain of the film is also laughably bad and makes the third act of the film just feel really lame.
