The Line is a campus thriller that plunges into the dangerous world of college fraternities and blind adherence to tradition. Alex Wolff stars as Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background who is charmed by the prestigious KNA fraternity's promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors.
A pronounced take down of toxic frat boy culture starring Alex Wolf as sophomore, Tom Backster, in his KNA fraternity as he and his brothers welcome in the new pledges. Tom seems well established in his fraternity even seems to potentially be in line for fraternity president in the future, but faces challenges when own morality doesn’t coalesce with that of his frat brothers. How is Tom willing to sacrifice for access to the privileges that his good old boys club affords him?  Employing a fake southern drawl seems harmless enough, but what happens when the stakes get bigger. When Tom starts dating Annabelle (Halle Bailey), and when his best friend wants to take hazing the new pledges to the next level, does he has to decide if he can continue to fall in line.
It’s a really compelling drama even if it’s not really touching on anything new. I really wish they had taken the Tom and Annabelle relationship drama further. Bailey was awesome and she has a really satisfying f🤩k you moment, but her screen time is otherwise pretty limited. Solid supporting cast all around with Lewis Pullman, Scoot McNairy, John Malkovich, Cheri Oteri. The standout performance is probably Bo Mitchell as Tom’s best friend and roommate Mitch Miller. Worth checking out.
