Yet another entry into the teenage comedy genre. Yes, it is formulaic and replete with requisite characters: the new kid, the geeky loser best friend, the arrogant bully jock and his toadies, the uppity demanding rich girl and her air-headed blonde sidekick, the exasperated mother, the eye-rolling teacher with low expectations, and of course the gay kid, the black kid, the asian kid and so on.
The script writing, however, is better than average and provides a good number of amusing moments throughout, most of which are delivered by Harvey Guillen and John Michael Higgins. I suppose Ross Lynch and Olivia Holt fans will be pleased, but it's really the supporting cast that carry this movie.
